This is a case study about a partnership Spotlight GB initiative and a newly opened grocery store in Wolverhampton, known as Go Local, to develop a unique brand, achieve local prominence, and attract customers into the store. We not only polished their brand but also optimised their search results, built their social presence, and offered hyper-targeted ads to give Go Local an opportunity to become one of the established stores in the neighborhood.

Go Local was struggling to find traction in Wolverhampton in spite of the fact that it offered great deals and stocked fresh. The store also did not have a regular branding and was not present online, either on Google or social media. Posts were not regular and were not organised, so there was a small engagement. The online advertising was not used towards foot traffic, and without an excellent plan of approaching the local population, the shop had a difficult time generating awareness and consistent traffic.

Branding & Identity Design

We began developing a user-friendly, welcoming, and memorable name that ended up showing the values, community, affordability, and freshness the store was based on.

Social Media Marketing (SMM)

To attract attention and grow loyalty in the local community, we developed and executed a neighborhood-focused strategy:

Facebook and Instagram were selected to engage with nearby residents and families.

02 Audience Targeting

Posts highlighted local promotions, product arrivals, and staff behind the counter, helping people connect with the store on a personal level.

03 Ad Campaigns

We launched hyperlocal ad campaigns promoting weekly deals, grand opening events, and giveaways to drive footfall and page engagement.

Consistency was key, so we set up systems to keep the store active online without overwhelming the team.

To increase visibility in local searches, we used a location-driven SEM strategy combined with a fully optimised Google My Business profile.

Conclusion
